About Amber Arnold + Healthy Pets
My work with animals began long before protocols, lab results, or wellness recommendations—it began in the real world, with structure, consistency, and accountability.
For more than 15 years, I’ve worked hands-on with dogs in rescue and as the owner of Northshore Canine Academy, helping thousands of dogs and their families rebuild trust, create clarity, and achieve lasting behavioral change.
Outside of my work with dogs, I am deeply committed to rescuing horses. Horse rescue revealed the long-term consequences of neglect that most people never witness—chronic inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, compromised joints, gut imbalance, and nervous systems locked in survival mode. True rehabilitation requires more than time and food; it requires a methodical, whole-body approach that restores balance, stability, and resilience.
Over time, a clear pattern emerged—one that echoed what I saw daily in training. Dogs struggling with anxiety, reactivity, poor impulse control, or aggression were often not simply “untrained.” Many were operating from bodies under stress. Inflammation, gut dysfunction, nutritional deficiencies, and environmental overload were shaping behavior long before a leash was ever introduced—and long before visible health symptoms appeared.
That realization changed how I approach animals entirely.
Behavior does not exist in isolation. Neither does health.
My background spans both human and animal wellness: I hold a Ph.D. in Functional Medicine (for humans) and a Ph.D. in Holistic Medicine. I am also a Certified Practitioner in Animal Naturopathy, accredited by the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine (IPHM) and the International Association of Therapists (IAOTH). This integrated training allows me to approach animal health through the same root-cause, systems-based lens used in advanced functional medicine.
Thus, began Healthy Pets.
Healthy Pets is a dedicated division of my functional medicine practice, Healthy Roots Holistic Health & Functional Wellness, and was created to address the why behind chronic symptoms and behavioral instability in animals.
Healthy Pets is not a veterinary clinic.
Just as at Northshore Canine Academy, there is no one-size-fits-all approach here. Every recommendation is structured, individualized, and built around the animal in front of us—not trends, shortcuts, or surface-level solutions. This work complements training by supporting the body and nervous system so learning, regulation, and stability can truly occur.
At its core, Healthy Pets exists to help animals move into balance—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Because real progress—whether in training or health—requires a solid and proper foundation.
If your pet is struggling with chronic symptoms, behavioral challenges, or if you simply want a more complete, intentional approach to their well-being, Healthy Pets offers personalized guidance rooted in structure, science, and real-world experience.
Strong foundations create lasting change.
